How Does It Work? (top)

Powerful yet gentle cleansers: Eco One contains powerful cleansers that break down suntan oil, body lotions, and other unwanted contaminants, dissolving them harmlessly, eliminating the cause of unsightly scum and foam.

Flocking Agents: Eco One contains non-toxic compounds that are naturally attracted to contaminants and minerals in the water. Solid contaminants clump together into larger particles that get swept up and caught in the filter where they belong. This natural flocking action keeps your water crystal -clear for a full month.

Natural Water Softeners: The natural water softening minerals in Eco One reduce the surface tension of the water and help prevent scale from forming. The water feels soft and equipment is protected.

Enzymes: The secret to Eco One is our proprietary blend of natural enzymes. Enzymes accelerate natural bio-processes and keep your spa water sparkling clean without the chemical soup, odor, irritation, dry skin, testing or water balancing.

Why Enzymes (top)

Enzymes increase the interaction between elements. They are added to detergents to help break down blood, fat, perspiration, and grass stains.

Lipase and Cellulase enzymes soften the fatty exterior walls of microscopic cells, causing them to rupture more easily. Amylase and Protease enzymes help break down starches and proteins. Oxidase and Hydrolase enzymes increase oxidation and promote the rapid degradation of many substances. Enzymes originally were extracted from both plants and animals, but can now be grown naturally in common soil.

Our enzymes are of food grade type housed in a coconut oil base, contributing to the effectiveness of the solution. As the solution breaks down during use, the coconut oil is released and gradually coats the filter cartridge, which improves filtration and makes cleaning the filter much easier. Coconut oil has the added benefit of being an excellent skin softener! The result is much healthier water, fresh, clean and clear without fear of exposure to harsh chemicals or their negative side effects.

Instructions:        Not recommended for use in "soft tub" spas

Now that you've made the plunge and purchased your new spa, or simply decided to give up the "chemical soup" in your old spa, you'll want to get started as quickly as possible. The following is a quick start guide. Please follow these instructions carefully.

Step 1: (top)

Quick Start:  IF YOU ARE NOW USING BIGUANIDE BaquaSpa drain your spa first

Refill with fresh water. To eliminate the biguanide BaquaSpa you may need to 'shock' the water with non-chlorine shock, or hydrogen peroxide in the next few weeks to maintain clarity.

If you have not used BIGUANIDE BaquaSpa  follow item number 1) below.

"Step 1" is used to clean your spa of any byproducts left from the manufacturer & chemical use. You may use your spa during the Step 1 process. It is recommended that older spas not be used during the purge process if the water turns cloudy or you get a rash from the chlorine or bromine salts being removed from your system.

Note: all Spas must go through the Step 1 process: If the spa is five years old or older it may be necessary to repeat  "Step 1" *Baqua Spa  users must drain spa before starting Step 1

1)       If your spa water is clean do not drain. Your old water may be used to complete your Step 1 process. If filling a spa bypass home water softener. Now add one 8-oz. bottle of "Step 1"

2)       With blowers and jets on full, let Step 1 circulate at least 30 minutes per day for 2 days. If your spa is 5 years or older let it circulate 30 minutes per day for 10 days. Make sure the spa is at least 90 degrees. If the water gets cloudy give it a couple more days to clean your system.

3)       After 2 to 10 days, drain the spa and flush with fresh water. Remove as much of the old water as possible. It is also recommended that both sides of the spa cover be cleaned at this time. If there are any odors or mildew built up on the cover or its folded seams it will drip and transfer into your fresh spa water.

(We recommend using our Eco One Vinyl Cleaner regularly)

4)       Repeat Step 1 every 6 months 10 days prior to draining your old water. This will help prevent mineral build up.

NOTE:

The Step 1 process is necessary for all New Spas because they are "wet tested" at the factory to make sure that everything works correctly & to guarantee there are no leaks. Eventually they are shipped to the dealer or the new owner. Because these spas have been wet, algae and mold may grow inside the plumbing. They also have manufacturing residues that slowly wash out & can cause cloudy water for many months. If you have not done Step 1 your water will not balance. You must go through the 2-day cleaning. We know it is inconvenient but it is necessary.

NOTE: You may wish to use a dichlor "sanitizer shock" treatment at this step to clear your water of any bacteriological impurities that may be in your municipal water supply. Do not use your spa during a chlorine shock. Avoid contact with your spa water when using high concentrations of chlorine. Avoid exposure to chlorine fumes. Follow manufacturer's instructions carefully. Running your blowers and jets will dissipate the chlorine over time.

Now you are ready for "Eco One Spa Treatment": (top)

One bottle treats tubs up to 500 gallons

1)                  Fill your spa with fresh water; bypass water softener. Place clean filter into your spa and heat your spa water to normal temperature. Add 4oz. of a Non-Chlorine Shock and use a minimum recommended amount of a sanitizer of your choice. If you have Ozone use .5 parts pmm of a sanitizer. Once spa is at least 90 degrees add one 16oz. bottle of "Eco One Spa Treatment" to your new spa water.

2)                  Add 2 caps full of Filter Booster in the spa filter compartment. Your water will turn cloudy. This is normal. Turn on spa with the air jets on full and let spa run until the water is clear; about 20 to 30 minutes. The enzymes will be captured in your filter and go to work cleaning your spa.

3)                  Depending on the metal content in your area, Metal Gone may be necessary. (Check your water with your hot tub dealer)

Eco One Maintenance:

Use with a regular application of a non-chlorine shock in conjunction with a minimum recommended amount of a sanitizer such as ozone, ionizers, dichlor, chlorine or bromine Eco One is not a sanitizer or an EPA registered pesticide.

Add a new 16oz. bottle of "Eco One Spa Treatment" & "Eco One Filter Booster" once every 30 days.

Drain the spa water and start fresh every (3) three months. Note: Clean your filter monthly. Spray with your garden hose until white.

  4)                  Check pH, set between 7 & 8.4 (Alkalinity should be maintained between 80 & 160)

pH balance is very important and should be maintained. Eco One helps eliminate contamination in your water, the pH may vary. This is normal and will self correct. If filling with city water check pH after the first week adjust as needed. If filling with well water check pH after filling spa and adjust as needed. This should be the only adjustment you make for the life of the water.

Check pH occasionally. We recommend you use White Vinegar to lower pH. Start with ˝ cup. Use Baking Soda to raise pH start with 1 to 2 tablespoons.

Eco one is non-toxic. If accidental ingestion should occur, drink copious amounts of water. If on eyes, flush with water. Do not rub eyes. If any irritation occurs, contact physician. Step 1 and the Spa Treatment can be very slippery when spilled. Exercise caution if spilled. Soak up spilled product with towel or household mop. There are no special disposal requirements.

Vacations:

You may find that while you're on vacation for a long period of time, that the water stays nice and clear for up to 3 to 5 months. Before using your spa again you need to add a new bottle of Spa Treatment, one cap full of Filter Boost & 1 – 2oz. non-chlorine shock to recondition the water. Eco One Spa Treatment will keep up to 500 gallons of water looking and feeling great for one month with average use. If you use your spa 3 to 5 days a week for twenty minutes each day that would be average use. Heavier use may require more frequent additions of Eco One.

Eco One Vinyl Top Conditioner & Restorer: (top)

To keep your cover looking like new use Eco One Vinyl Top Conditioner & Restorer at least once a month. It will help protect it from the elements and help reduce odors in your tub from mold & mildew buildup as well as minimize sanitizer load. You will also extend the life of your cover.

Eco One Filter Boost: (top)

Apply Eco One Filter Boost directly to your filter after each monthly cleaning. Eco One Filter Boost will improve the efficiency of your filter, make it easier to clean and help to remove damaging minerals and phosphates from your water. Each 2-oz. container contains a six-month supply for average home spa use.

Note: Some spas have a bypass valve in the bottom of their filter compartment the larger enzyme bits from the Filter Booster will sink to the bottom of the filter chamber where they sit until the twin speed pump is fired up full. When this happens the bypass valve in the bottom of the chamber opens and draws the granules through the system and into the tub. Some filter chambers do not have 100% filtering through the filter chamber, which may also let the bits pass through. If this happens let settle to bottom vacuum out and discard you will still have plenty of the Filter Booster working in your filter.

A Note About Smaller Spas (under 200 gallons): Smaller spas are more difficult to maintain than larger spas, particularly under heavy use. There is a significantly higher "bather to water" ratio in smaller spas. Consequently, the same amount of Spa Treatment should be used for small spas as large. Small spas should be drained more often as well.

Spa Tips and Tricks (top)

Never use a "clarifier" Eco One is a natural clarifier. Cure cloudy water with a non-chlorine shock.

Don't fight a chemical war with your spa, particularly with regard to pH. Eco One will gently help to maintain ideal pH and alkalinity in your spa. However, when you add a sanitizer or non-chlorine shock treatment, the pH will shift somewhat. Add the chemical, run your jets and then let the spa sit for a while. Check your pH. Nine times out of ten, the water will return to a normal pH range.

On the rare occasion when you find that you have to adjust your spa's pH, you don't have to use pH up or down, some common household items can be used. White vinegar or concentrated lemon juice (no pulp) will lower your spa's pH while common baking soda will raise it. Check your spa's instruction manual to make sure that it does not specifically forbid these methods before implementing.

Foam: The best method to avoid ever developing a foam problem is to always take a quick, soap-less shower before entering your spa. Do not use foam down products.

Chemical Sanitizer Levels: Try to use the very minimum recommended amount of a sanitizer in your spa, particularly when using ozone (.5 ppm). Always test your water BEFORE adding a sanitizer. Be careful to monitor your chemical level closely as you may find that the use of Eco One significantly increases chemical sanitizer longevity.

Trouble Shooting Spa Problems (top)

Symptom

Possible cause

Solution

Cloudy Water*

pH above 8.4

Run blowers and jets. Add ˝ cup of white vinegar or pH down.

Organic contaminants

Use Eco One non-chlorine shock per instructions & small amount of dichlor

Dirty or damaged filter

-Remove and clean filter. Add Filter Boost to filter compartment

-Or retire and replace filter

High Calcium or dissolved solids

Drain and refill spa. Water has "crashed." There may be a problem during the first couple of months of Eco One use in older spas that have a great deal of built-up deposits in the pipes and equipment

Green Water

Organic Contaminants or well water

-Add 2oz. of a non-Chlorine Shock use small amount of an algaecide or small amount of dichlor

Algae has entered your spa

add algaecide to water & small amount of dichlor

Organic or unpleasant odor*

Dirty filter

-Remove and clean filter. Add Filter Booster to filter or Add 2oz. of a non-Chlorine Shock & small amount of dichlor

Mold on cover dripping into spa

- Clean spa cover thoroughly with Eco one Vinyl Top Cleaner and Restorer

Organic contaminants

-Add 2oz of a non-chlorine shock & dichlor

Salt crystals

pH swings & minerals crystallizing

Baqua Spa conversions

-A basic tenet of chemistry is that when mixing an acid with a base, the resulting compound will be a salt. Chlorine and Bromine is a very powerful and caustic 'base' and pH down is a very powerful acid. It may take several weeks for the resulting salts to wash out of your spa. Use Leisure Time Spa Defender 2 – 3 weeks or as per their instructions.

Scum & Foam

Oils, lotion & soap's

Do not use Foam Down type products. Lingering clumps of foam mean it is time to add another bottle of Eco One Spa Treatment. If the foam doesn't go away in 1 – 2 days, then add Step 1 and run for 10 days and drain the spa.

The best cure for this problem is to always take a soap-less shower before getting into your spa.

Brown Water

High Iron or Manganese

-Add 2 caps full of Filter Booster to spa filter compartment & 1 bottle of Spa Treatment to spa water.

Eco One Filter Booster contains properties that help the filter capture phosphates, irons & metals from the water. Lowering the phosphate level can help control algae growth.

Cloudy Water:

You may experience cloudy water and mild organic odors during your first couple of months using Eco One. Use of a non-chlorine shock & a small amount of dichlor should clear the problem right up. This is particularly common in older spas as contaminants and gunk may continue to be loosened from your equipment and pipes, it may be necessary to repeat the Step 1 process.
